What is Breast Lift Surgery?

Breast lift procedures aim to firm and raise the breasts through reshaping breast tissue and the removal of excess skin. By taking into account the size of your breasts, your body type, the anatomy of your breasts, your skin elasticity and thickness, plus, your overall desired outcome, we can determine the best option for you.

There are many reasons to consider a breast lift. Many people choose this option due to pregnancy. After pregnancy, your breasts stretch and become larger and heavier. This usually results in sagging of the breasts. This is a normal phenomenon; however, some people finds that it weighs on their confidence and self-esteem. Through breast lift surgery, we may be able to help women recapture their confidence with a little help Dr Niro.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Breast Lift surgery painful?
Breast lift surgery itself should not be painful due to the general anaesthetic that is usually used during the procedure. Afterwards, you may experience some form of discomfort whilst your body recovers. This typically lasts up to 6 weeks; however, the vast majority of discomfort goes after the first 2 weeks.
What needs to be considered with Breast Lift surgery?
During one of our consultations, we will discuss with you the best possible route to take for your desired outcome. In order to do this, some considerations must be undertaken. These may include:
  • The appearance of the torso
  • Breast volume
  • Breast position
  • Your patience for downtime
  • Skin elasticity and thickness
  • Lifestyle elements
Is scarring left after Breast Lift surgery?
It is important to understand that after any invasive surgery, there will be some kind of scar. There is no such thing as scar-free surgery; however, minimally visible scars are possible. Therefore, for many women, a traditional breast lift operation (mastopexy), which may involve many incisions and therefore the potential for scarring around the breasts, is not preferred. In these circumstances, if the breasts are not sagging too much and if the patient understands the limits of alternatives, it may be possible to undergo a liposuction approach. This may be able to conservatively lift the breasts.
