There is no need to stay in hospital overnight (unless specifically wanted) following neck lift surgery. Most patients return home within a couple of hours following the procedure. Generally, recovery is fast, and the majority of individuals return to work 7-10 days following the procedure. Furthermore, the results of the procedure shall be evident within six months.
Immediately following a neck lift procedure, there will be swelling and bruising. Most patients report mild to moderate feelings of discomfort and may have to wear a compression garment.
First 48 hours: Swelling and bruising shall increase. For optimum results do not tilt your head downwards and keep your head elevated when sleeping. You can shower and wash your hair, taking care not to rub at the incision sites.
7 days: The majority of people shall return to work if they have not already done so. The incision sites may feel itchy swelling and bruising should start to be less noticeable.
14 days: The check-up appointment will take place. Dr Niro will check that the sutures have dissolved, remove any sutures if required and the incisions are healing.
1 month: There shall still be swelling although your neck should still appear smoother and tighter than prior to the procedure. You can start using skin products, although ideally avoid anything with fake tan in it.
3 months: Bruising and noticeable swelling shall have gone, and your scars should have significantly faded. Your jawline shall appear more defined, and the treated area should look and feel tighter. Massaging of scars should be performed religiously.
12 months: Your scars should be almost invisible, and any residual swelling shall be gone.
